Open enrollment – Electric Incident Investigation for Utility First Responders

AEGIS Loss Control is excited to announce its latest online workshop: Electric Incident Investigation for Utility First Responders.

Date: May 25, 2022
Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm EDT
Fee: None
Location: Online (Virtual) Workshop

Who should attend

The Electric Incident Investigation for First Responders workshop is geared toward utility first responders who are either dispatched or responsible for the initial investigation. Electric company personnel from field operations, who act as troubleshooters, service technicians or linemen, and their supervisors are encouraged to attend.

When a utility company becomes aware that an incident involving electric utility equipment has occurred, a claims investigator may respond to the scene to begin the investigation process. If a claims investigator is not available, operations personnel, electric line workers or troubleshooters may be called upon to perform the initial investigation function. In either case, first responders must have an understanding of what is expected of them from a claim investigator’s viewpoint.

What is covered

The half-day workshop includes investigation techniques and methods on how to conduct a proper and thorough investigation at the incident scene.

Topics include:

  • Objectives of investigations
  • Physiological effects of electricity
  • Incident investigation
  • Measurements
  • Photography
  • Evidence
  • Ladders & scaffolding
  • Joint use poles/vehicle-pole hits
  • Underground incidents
  • Case Study: Overhead Line Contact Investigation
  • Nothing But the Truth Lessons Learned® Video

For more information about the workshop, please contact Scot Macomber, Vice President of Loss Control Utility Operations, by e-mail or phone at 201.508.2739, or contact your designated Loss Control Senior Electric Utility Professional.

Register today

For workshop registration, please contact Michelle Battagliese by e-mail no later than May 6, 2022. We have a limited number of seats available; please register early.
