BESS, Wind, Solar and Hydrogen Latent Design Defects and Discussion

Wednesday, Feb 01, 2023 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EST Online

AEGIS Loss Control is pleased to announce its latest webinar, BESS, Wind, Solar and Hydrogen Latent Design Defects and Discussion, on February 1 at 2:00 pm EST.

Who should attend:

Power plant employees, claims professionals and those individuals engaged in renewable energy efforts as electric generation continues to evolve its portfolio of renewable and sustainable production.

What is covered:

Renewable energy is the fastest-growing energy source in the United States, increasing by 42 percent from 2010 to 2020. With the energy industry transitioning to renewable energy generation, difficulties with operation and design issues will occur. These difficulties are being experienced by renewable and traditional technologies that are not capable of regulating the renewable grids.

This webinar will highlight latent defect design reviews, root cause investigations and insurance claim support for battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind, solar and hydrogen fuel systems. It will also touch briefly on transformer, STG and GT losses. Common events and issues have arisen with these technologies, resulting in downtime and insurance claims. The presentation will address and explore some of these challenging issues.

About the presenter:

The webinar will be presented by Walter Vinoski, owner of Vinoski Engineering. Walt started in the power business in 1980, repairing and calibrating electrical testing equipment. He spent many years at Westinghouse designing large rotating equipment, turbines, generators, transformers, and various turbine and boiler controls. This work included destructive testing of power equipment. In the 1980s, Walter’s team designed and manufactured photovoltaic cells, fuel cells, and other battery systems that are now popular and spent several years constructing and rebuilding power plants for the IPP industry. In 1995, Walt started his own engineering company, and today has 25 engineers and specialists. These include specialists in the steam, gas turbine, generator, transformer, switchgear, transmission and distribution, synchronous condensers, boilers, HRSG, ball mill, and most of the “new” green energy expertise that was developed decades ago.
