For years, our Member companies have relied on the AEGIS Lessons Learned Video Series to educate and train employees and stakeholders. We’re pleased to announce that we are in the process of updating and modernizing four of these Lessons Learned videos. Our updated format offers shorter, more focused content that is designed to engage today’s learners and effectively reinforce key takeaways.
AEGIS Loss Control is excited to announce the release of the first updated video: Excavation Damage – The Unseen Danger.
Video Overview: After a third party inadvertently strikes a gas main, the local gas company responds promptly. However, several hours later, a natural gas explosion occurs in a nearby building, resulting in significant property damage and multiple injuries. This video examines what the gas company could have done differently, including verifying project details and improving their response to the emergency.

Be on the lookout for the remake of these videos coming later this year:
Toxic Tale – Carbon Monoxide Safety: Natural gas companies frequently conduct activities inside customers’ premises, such as reconnecting gas service, relighting gas appliances and investigating odor complaints. This video reviews the importance of following company procedures and documenting actions effectively to prevent carbon monoxide incidents.
Dangerously Close: This video highlights overhead power line safety and the importance of taking action when witnessing unsafe behaviors.
Deadly Trap: This video addresses safety concerns related to guy wires, discussing proper installation, maintenance and visibility of guy wires to prevent inadvertent contact with electric lines.
As we approach August 11, National 811 Safe Digging Day, we are reminded of the critical importance of excavation safety, particularly in protecting natural gas infrastructure. This date serves as a national call to action to promote safe digging practices and prevent underground utility damage.
