Leveraging Data and Technology to Find and Quantify Methane Emissions

Wednesday, Mar 06, 2024 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT Online

AEGIS Loss Control is pleased to announce its latest webinar, Leveraging Data and Technology to Find and Quantify Methane Emissions on Wednesday, March 6, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Heightened scrutiny and impending regulations are driving the natural gas industry to explore new ways to reduce methane emissions. We invite you to join us for an important discussion on the industry’s response to the regulatory environment surrounding the reduction of methane emissions from natural gas pipelines and facilities. Participants will receive a first-hand account of the use of new methane leak detection technologies aimed at meeting emissions reduction goals.

Who Should Attend

Utility employees responsible for leak survey and patrolling, management of leak survey and new technology evaluation would benefit from attending this webinar. We also welcome anyone interested in understanding how emerging technologies may offer natural gas utilities a consistent, credible approach to demonstrate emissions reductions and achieve sustainability goals.

What is Covered

New proposed rules from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) implement congressional mandates to reduce methane emissions from new and existing gas transmission and distribution pipelines, underground natural gas storage facilities, and liquefied natural gas facilities. Among the proposed amendments are strengthened leak survey requirements and performance standards for advanced leak detection programs.

The presentation will share the experiences of Duke Energy during their 3+ year pilot project using satellite imagery to detect methane on their natural gas system. The presenter will discuss the benefits of using advanced methane leak detection technologies, such as satellite imagery, to drive toward their net zero methane goals. Successes, surprises and lessons learned from the pilot will be shared. Participants will also learn about Duke Energy’s scaling plans and the regulatory path forward as they navigate an environmental climate with increased scrutiny around the natural gas industry.

About the Presenter

Erin Jedlikowski is the Manager, AMLD Technology & Emissions at Duke Energy. She has 17 years of experience in the natural gas distribution industry, holding responsibilities for a variety of departments over the years, including Organizational Development, Customer Service, Work Management and most recently, Climate & Emissions. She has undergraduate degrees in Psychology & Criminal Justice and holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She has a passion for the natural gas industry and is an advocate for the place of natural gas in a clean energy future.
