Leading Renewable Energy Underwriters Join AEGIS

AEGIS is pleased to announce that Tom Cain, Christina Tom and Jimmy Conroy will be joining AEGIS, effective September 28. They will be responsible for our renewable energy insurance initiative for both property and casualty lines of business. This initiative began in 2018, and has grown steadily to become a portfolio of nearly $40 million in 2020. AEGIS offers members a full slate of property and casualty products specifically designed for the renewable energy industry, with limits up to $400 million.

Tom Cain joins AEGIS as a Vice President & Renewable Energy Product Manager, reporting to Bill Hillman, Senior Vice President & Chief Underwriting Officer. He will be responsible for all renewable energy insurance products, including operational property, builders risk and excess liability. Tom brings a wealth of renewable energy experience to the mutual. Prior to AEGIS, he was Head of the US Renewables team for AXIS Insurance in New York for more than four years, after joining AXIS in 2013 from GCube Insurance, where he was an Underwriter working in both their London and New York offices. Tom earned his Bachelor of Geography from University College London.

Christina Tom joins AEGIS as an Underwriting Officer – Renewable Energy, reporting to Tom Cain. She will be responsible for managing and underwriting a portfolio of North American solar and wind renewable energy insurance business. Prior to AEGIS, Christina worked at AXIS Insurance as a Vice President – Underwriter, managing the West Coast territory for renewable energy products. She brings 17 years of insurance experience to AEGIS. Christina will be based in San Francisco. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Jimmy Conroy joins AEGIS as a Senior Underwriter, reporting to Tom Cain. He will be responsible for underwriting a portfolio of North American solar and wind renewable energy insurance business. Prior to AEGIS, Jimmy worked at AXIS Insurance in New York as a Renewable Energy Underwriter. He has strong experience in renewable energy on both the insurance and operations side. Jimmy earned his Bachelor of Environmental Sciences and Biology from Denison University.
