Technology Advances in Wildfire Mitigation

Wednesday, Apr 03, 2024 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT Online

AEGIS Loss Control is pleased to announce its latest webinar, Technology Advances in Wildfire Mitigation on Wednesday, April 3, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

In recent years, wildfires in the US and Canada have become more frequent and severe. We invite you to join us for an important discussion on the challenges electric utilities face in reducing the risk of ignition from electric utility system assets. Participants will receive a first-hand account of one electric cooperative’s use of new technologies and unified practices to manage wildfire mitigation.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for utility wildfire management and response, electric system operations, and risk management would benefit from attending this webinar. We also invite anyone interested in understanding how emerging technologies can provide electric utilities with a dynamic strategy to assess and manage wildfire risk.

What is Covered

While always a priority, wildfire mitigation has become more of a concern in recent years as wildfire risk has heightened in severity and frequency. Wildfire mitigation strategies have evolved and increased for electric utilities operating in wildfire-prone service areas and leveraging technology and lessons learned from mitigation strategies has become critical. This webinar will feature Jordan Ambrogi, Wildfire Mitigation Program Manager at CORE Electric Cooperative, who will provide an overview of the organization’s dynamic approach for implementing an all-encompassing program to manage wildfire mitigation. This webinar will review how CORE has implemented wildfire mitigation strategies and unified practices in the following areas: system patrols, camera monitoring, satellite imagery analysis, smart fault detection, system hardening and weather forecasting.

About the Presenter

Jordan Ambrogi is a Wildfire Mitigation Program Manager for CORE Electric Cooperative, where he is driving the strategy to reduce wildfire ignitions from power systems in Northeastern Colorado. Prior to this role, Jordan was a Job Planner with ECI, working for CORE and meeting with landowners to plan and audit vegetation management. Jordan began his five-year journey at CORE as Utility Forester, where he managed CORE’s vegetation management through QA/QC and incorporated new technologies to advance the program until he was promoted to his current role as head of CORE's Wildfire Mitigation Program. His background in vegetation management and desire to combat the realities of climate change affecting many states across the West has driven Jordan's focus to achieve a best-in-class Wildfire Mitigation Program at CORE. Jordan holds certifications as an ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist and Wildfire Mitigation Specialist.
