Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Program Overview

Wednesday, Mar 01, 2023 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EST Online

AEGIS Loss Control is pleased to announce its latest webinar, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Program Overview, on March 1 at 2:00 pm EST.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for risk management, occupational safety and utility field operations would benefit from attending this webinar. Attendees in leadership positions will learn how CISM programs can be used to help employees handle the emotions they may feel after experiencing a workplace crisis.

What is Covered

The utility industry is an inherently dangerous place to work. Personnel are frequently exposed to traumatic or stressful incidents as part of the job. In addition to this exposure, much of the work requires employees to be focused and cautious to ensure not only their own safety, but also the safety of their coworkers as well as the public. Outside stressors or trauma can easily compromise a worker’s ability to be attentive to the level necessary to perform their job in a safe manner.

This webinar will present an overview of how Avista Corporation, an AEGIS member utility, adapted the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) model used frequently by first responder agencies in the U.S., and has used it successfully. The webinar will address the case for change at Avista, the formation process of the peer-based program, and an overview of the number and types of situations in which Avista has used the CISM process.
