Uses of Drones for Natural Gas Utilities

Wednesday, Nov 07, 2018 | Online

New and innovative uses for unmanned aerial vehicles are emerging everywhere, including the natural gas industry.  What was once secret technology used for national defense, is now widely available for personal and commercial use.  Drone capabilities, coupled with advanced sensor technologies, are creating new opportunities to improve basic operational processes and emergency response for natural gas utilities.  This webinar will focus on recent developments in drone-based leak detection and will use case studies to illustrate the discussion.

The presenter will be Jim Rutherford, Senior Vice President – Products Business Unit, at Heath Consultants.  He has been with Heath for 15 years and is responsible for technology, product development and manufacturing.  Jim holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota.  He also holds numerous patents and received the R&D 100 award for the Remote Methane Leak Detector.  Previously, Jim was with Watlow Controls as Director of R&D and with Honeywell Aerospace and Defense as a senior staff engineer.
