Distribution Integrity Management - One Utility's Progress

Distribution Integrity Management - One Utility’s Progress

Wednesday, Jan 10, 2018 | Online

The Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP) regulations were adopted by PHMSA to improve distribution integrity and assure the safety of our natural gas pipelines and facilities.  Accordingly, the regulations required natural gas distribution operators to develop and implement an Integrity Management Program by August 2, 2011.   This performance-based regulation allowed for Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) to implement a program that met the specific risks of the company rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.  As a result, natural gas utilities have implemented tailored DIMPs to better understand how system design, local conditions, and pipeline materials can affect the likelihood and consequence of distribution risks and improve system integrity.

This webinar will feature Southern Company Gas’s DIMP that covers more than 79,000 miles of distribution main and 4.4 million customers across seven states.  This presentation will cover how Southern Company Gas identifies existing and potential threats, evaluates and ranks risks, implements measures to address risks, monitors program effectiveness and adapts to the ever-changing regulatory environment.

The webinar will be presented by Keven Graham who is the Director of the Distribution Integrity Management Program and Leak Survey Operations for Southern Company Gas.  Mr. Graham has been in the Pipeline Data & Risk Industry for more than 12 years and has managed the DIMP at Southern Company Gas for more than seven years.  Before he started in the pipeline industry, Mr. Graham graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Political Science.  His studies included a focus on spatial and statistical analysis.
