Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Unconventional Uses
Wednesday, December 13, 2017 | 1:00pm to 2:00pm Online

Industry leaders agree that the practical application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is a game-changer for utility companies. The use of UAVs goes far beyond getting a bird’s-eye view of utility systems. Emerging technologies and new policies related to the FAA’s Special Airworthiness Certificate for small UAVs are helping utilities to more effectively monitor, inspect, maintain and construct facilities with increased knowledge and capabilities. The technology has significant implications for worker safety, system reliability, grid resilience, and financial efficiency. This webinar will cover the current state of UAV capabilities and review the regulatory, technical and commercial requirements to effectively use UAV technology.

The webinar will be presented by James Pierce, UAV Innovation Lead at Ameren Transmission Corporation. James is a certified Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) commercial pilot with experience in the commercial UAV industry, flying unmanned craft for Peabody Energy and now Ameren Corporation. James has more than 18 years of experience with photogrammetry and remote sensing practices including GIS, CAD and surveying technologies.
