Employee safety is paramount when constructing or maintaining electric power generation, transmission, or distribution equipment. Regulations are in place to assist in maintaining a safe work environment. This webinar will discuss the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) revised rules for electric generation, transmission and distribution (§1910.269) including both new and revised requirements for host/contract employers, safety-related information exchanges, minimum approach distances, fall protection and arc-flash protection. The changes to 1920 Subpart V Construction Performance Standards will also be reviewed.
The webinar will be conducted by Danny Raines, who retired from Georgia Power Company after 40 years of electric utility construction, Supervision and Corporate Safety Training. Following his retirement he began Raines Utility Safety Solutions, LLC (RUSS). He is an OSHA-authorized general industry and construction safety and compliance trainer, and also specializes in Federal motor carrier safety rules, site risk and hazard assessments, and safety observation programs. He has authored a series of articles focusing on safety leadership and management, employee behaviors and technical skills associated with electric utility industry. He is a 1978 graduate of Macon State College.
