Position Summary
AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Senior Electric Utility Professional to develop and implement the company’s loss control program in order to reduce and/or minimize financial losses to the insured and to AEGIS.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct on-site technical risk assessments of insureds’ electric utility operating procedures and policies, record keeping, standards and code compliance; address operating and safety issues, prepare reports of the findings including recommendations to reduce risk exposure, and monitor compliance with the recommendations
- Provide consultative services to insured members to assist in implementation of risk reduction suggestions or loss mitigation activities including training, utility focused safety programs and enhancement of operating policies and procedures.
- Provide in-house research and support on complex technical issues to ensure that appropriate information is incorporated into company policies and decisions
- Utilize industry knowledge of utility operations and individual risk assessment findings to support underwriting decisions by outlining and clarifying member exposures and operational risks
- Maintain and improve, as required, incident classification system which will provide appropriate data to identify cause of losses, trends, hazards, and other related findings, (i.e. high exposure)
- Prepare periodic communications to insureds on timely and relevant loss control, public safety or risk management issues via AEGIS publications
- Assist in the development and distribution of new loss control services and products designed to assist insureds in reducing their overall long term cost of risk
- Keep abreast of industry trends and technology by attending relevant seminars and conferences
- Represent Company at designated industry trade organization meetings and deliver presentations on Loss Control and safety issues when requested
- Establish credibility as a Loss Control Specialist with a thorough knowledge of electric utility operations
- Become proficient in technical areas where current expertise may be limited; possess the ability to research and write reports concerning risk exposure on topics where knowledge may be limited
- Influencing insureds to adopt and integrate loss control and/or risk management principles in day-to-day operating practices
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years preferred of engineering or operational experience in electric transmission and distribution system design, maintenance and/or operations including managing data, people, budgets and schedules
- Experience working independently with limited guidance and/or leading people/initiatives through influence rather than as a direct report are a plus
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate Risk Manager (ARM) certification desired
- In-depth knowledge of electric utility system operations including applicable codes, standards and regulations
- Travel required (approximately 50% to 70%)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint

We expect to pay a starting salary between $107,000 and $155,000. An applicant’s placement within this range is based on their individual qualifications and professional experience. In addition to base salary, AEGIS Services employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s annual incentive program, with competitive awards based on corporate and individual performance.
