As you know by now, the U.S. Senate failed to pass the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2014 earlier this week, which means the federal terrorism insurance backstop that’s been in place since 2002 will expire Dec. 31, 2014. We are hopeful that the new Congress will take positive action in January, but in the meantime, AEGIS will continue to provide terrorism coverage without interruption. Our reinsurance program, as well as the terrorism limits and aggregates we have in place, provide adequate protection for the mutual, and allow us to continue to provide terrorism coverage to members as we have done since the original TRIA bill was enacted.
If you have any questions about TRIA or AEGIS terrorism coverage, please contact Bill Cullen, Senior Vice President – Underwriting, by e-mail or by phone at 201.508.2781 or George Keefe, Senior Vice President – Member Relations, by e-mail or by phone at 201.508.2797.
Please register now for one of the next two regional member and broker meetings, which will be held in Dallas on Wednesday, January 14 and Seattle on Tuesday, February 17.
Our regional meetings give you an opportunity to tell us about the issues on your mind, what you need from AEGIS, and how we’re doing. They are also an ideal way to further involve your risk management and finance colleagues with your company’s insurance program, discuss current energy and insurance issues, and learn more about your mutual. At these meetings, small groups of members and brokers meet with AEGIS senior management to discuss these topics as well as any new initiatives at AEGIS. We’ll also answer any questions you may have. Most attendees find that these small meetings are conducive to comparing notes and networking with other risk managers and brokers. Please come prepared to discuss risk management issues, general insurance market conditions, cyber risk, enterprise risk management and other current topics.
Each meeting is a one-day event and you should be able to drive or fly between home and the meeting on the same day. However, if you need to stay overnight, AEGIS will reimburse one person from each member company for one night’s stay in the meeting hotel. We look forward to seeing you!
Please save the date for the 2015 AEGIS Policyholders’ Conference, which will be held Monday, July 20 to Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. We look forward to seeing you, your families and guests at this exciting new PHC venue, and celebrating the 40th anniversary of the founding of AEGIS.
