A.M. Best reaffirms AEGIS and AEGIS London ratings

We are pleased to report that A.M. Best has just reaffirmed the "A- (Excellent)" rating for AEGIS and that the rating outlook remains "positive." We would, of course, have been more pleased if the rating had been upgraded at this time, however their press release expresses their rationale and it reads favorably. In particular, A.M. Best states:

AEGIS' ratings could be considered for positive rating actions if the company continues to demonstrate strong operating fundamentals in areas such as risk-adjusted capitalization, evidence of sustainable and stable investment results and the continuation of favorable loss development trends.

In addition, A.M. Best reaffirmed the "A (Excellent)" financial strength rating with a stable outlook for AEGIS London. Our analysts noted the financial strength of both AEGIS and the Lloyd's market, as well as the Syndicate's diversified book of business, as factors that supported their reaffirmation. Thank you for your support in helping us achieve these positive rating reviews. With your help, we'll strive to continue on our good financial trajectory.

2013 AEGIS Policyholders' Conference – July 29 to August 1 – register by July 3

Please register now for the 2013 AEGIS Policyholders' Conference which will be held Monday, July 29 through Thursday, August 1 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland. Eligible attendees can register for the conference, make hotel reservations and select recreational activities online. The deadline is Wednesday, July 3.

We're hard at work on what we hope will be another very informative and productive conference. The preliminary agenda includes a management report that will focus on our progress to date this year and our initiatives going forward. We have also invited Bob Hartwig, President of the Insurance Information Institute, to join us again to present his ever-popular update on current economic and insurance market conditions.

We plan to cover a number of additional topics during the general sessions and breakout sessions as well, including the results of our new policy limits survey, cyber risk coverage, services and issues, enterprise risk management, trends in member company losses, managing risk for evolving power generation portfolios, lessons learned from Superstorm Sandy and tornadoes, D&O developments with Dan Bailey, and a special session for members and brokers who are new to AEGIS.

We will also host a special one-hour session on Tuesday afternoon to walk through our excess liability and property policies for the benefit of new members and brokers, as well as for those who would simply like a refresher.

On Thursday morning, we're sure you'll enjoy the entertaining and informative brother and sister-in-law team of political commentators, Monica Crowley and Alan Colmes, who appear weekly on Fox News' O'Reilly Factorand debate the hot-button topics of the day.

AEGIS staff will be available to meet with members on Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30. To schedule a meeting, please contact your AEGIS underwriter, loss control representative or claims representative.

Our recreational and networking activities include a reception on Wednesday evening at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, where you can join family, friends and colleagues to tour the museum exhibits and enjoy the sunset and early evening views of the Inner Harbor. Once again, we will offer recreational tours on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as the AEGIS golf tournament on Thursday afternoon, which will be held at The Woodlands Golf Course. On Thursday evening, we hope you'll join us for an informal reception, the always entertaining golf awards, and some additional good-humored "achievement" awards at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.

Conference registration is complimentary and attendees are invited to bring guests. Brokers must be connected with a current AEGIS member policy written through AEGIS in New Jersey to attend. AEGIS will reimburse one representative from each member company with a current AEGIS policy written through AEGIS in East Rutherford for the cost of three nights' lodging at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact Gil Gould by e-mail or by phone at 201.508.2790.

Please register now for the conference, make your hotel reservations and submit your requests for tours and golf. The deadline is Wednesday, July 3.

We look forward to seeing you, your families and guests in a few weeks in Baltimore at PHC 2013!
