Passports required for PHC in Toronto

If you plan on joining us at our Policyholders' Conference in Toronto this summer, please remember that all U.S. citizens – including children – must now have a valid passport for air travel between the U.S. and Canada as part of the new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). This requirement was not in effect at the time of our Vancouver conference in 2005. (The passport requirement does not apply to travel by land or sea until 2008, however other identification and government-issued photo identification requirements still apply.)

Please take a moment to become familiar with the travel document requirements. With the increased demand for passports created by the new WHTI requirements, the standard processing time for new or renewed passports can be up to ten weeks. Information on passport requirements and application procedures are available at the U.S. Department of State website at http://travel.state.gov.

If you are traveling with children, you should carry identification for each child. Divorced parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custody documents. Adults who are not parents or guardians should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the children. Customs officers are looking for missing children and may ask questions about the children who are traveling with you.

The 2007 AEGIS Policyholders' Conference, is scheduled for Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto. If you have any questions about the conference, please contact Carrie White by e-mail or by phone at 201.508.2840. We look forward to seeing you in Toronto this summer!
