Event Date: July 26 to July 29
Location: Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center
The agenda includes a management report which will focus on the progress the Company has made as a result of strong member support and our restorative initiatives in the investment and underwriting areas. We have also invited Bob Hartwig, President of The Insurance Information Institute, to present his view of current economic and insurance market conditions in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Dan Bailey, of Bailey Cavalieri, will join us again as well. Dan will update us on emerging D+O issues and the current state of the D+O market. And we’re sure you’ll enjoy our keynote speaker, P.J. O’Rourke, the best-selling author, comedy writer and political satirist of NPR, National Lampoon and Rolling Stone fame.
Our agenda will also cover risks emerging from the smart grid and smart houses, the issues involved in transitioning from traditional to renewable infrastructure, and our new online policy application. Breakout sessions include protecting renewable energy assets, contractual risk transfer, newest developments in cyber liability, exploring coastal and inland transmission coverage and risk managers’ thoughts on selling AEGIS and the mutual concept to senior management. We’re also planning a primer session on Tuesday afternoon that will cover the most common sources of utility industry losses, how to present them to AEGIS and how to help prevent them.
Our recreational and networking activities include an authentic Western-style BBQ on Wednesday evening with a family-friendly rodeo and other fun activities, an AEGIS golf tournament at the Fossil Trace Golf Club, and a number of tours which include hiking in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, rafting on the Colorado River, a tour of historic and modern Denver, a shopping excursion to beautiful and eclectic Boulder, a visit to the breathtaking Red Rocks Amphitheater and Park and the Coors Brewery, plus a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the new touring exhibit of the treasures from King Tutankhamen's tomb at the Denver Art Museum.
AEGIS staff will be available to meet with members on Monday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 27. To schedule a meeting, please contact your AEGIS underwriter, loss control representative or claims representative.
Dress for the conference itself is business casual. The summer months in Denver are very warm – the average daytime temperature in late July is 87 degrees, and the average low in the evening is 58 degrees. Because the evenings can be cooler, you may wish to pack a summer-weight sweater or jacket for Wednesday’s outdoor reception as well as for the air-conditioned venues. Dress for the AEGIS reception on Wednesday is summer casual. We will be in a rustic, outdoor Western space where jeans, cowboy boots, shorts and comfortable shoes are all welcome. Dress for the reception at the Hyatt Regency Denver on Thursday night is business casual.
Conference registration is complimentary and attendees are invited to bring guests. Brokers must be connected with a current AEGIS member policy written through AEGIS in New Jersey to attend. AEGIS will reimburse one representative from each member company with a current AEGIS policy written through AEGIS in East Rutherford for the cost of three nights' lodging at the Hyatt Regency Denver.
