Company Overview
AEGIS London is the UK-based subsidiary of AEGIS (Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services Limited). It operates AEGIS Energy Syndicate 1225 at Lloyd's. In 2007 it wrote almost $500 million premium.

The syndicate was originally created to provide global insurance facilities for AEGIS members. Its focus has now widened and includes leading and participating in a wide range of onshore and offshore energy risks, as well as a number of other classes traditionally written in the Lloyd's market. As a result of this success the AEGIS London team has expanded to 65 people over the past five years.

AEGIS London offers specialist expertise and leadership to clients in the global energy market, including:

  • Indigenous utilities in various countries, including the United States
  • Owners of international power projects
  • Oil and gas businesses, including all aspects of oil and gas exploration, production, storage, transmission and processing
  • Various contractors serving these market sectors

Training and Development

Induction
All employees receive a personal induction during their first few weeks of joining. The induction is designed to introduce employees to the AEGIS London culture, provide them with an overview of the organisation and support them to ensure that they establish a solid foundation for their career.

The induction also provides employees who have no previous insurance experience with an opportunity to learn about the insurance industry through formal courses and spending time with our own technical experts.

Technical Training
To ensure all our people achieve and maintain the required level of technical competence, AEGIS encourages employees, where appropriate, to attend relevant technical training events. These can range from internal lunch-and-learn sessions, external training courses, on-the-job training and industry conferences.

Professional Development
AEGIS actively encourages all employees to undertake relevant professional qualifications. We sponsor employees undertaking insurance, actuarial, accounting and other role-specific examinations. We allow study leave and reward people on the attainment of these qualifications. Our aim is to be in the top quartile in terms of the support we provide.

Management Development
We are also committed to offering tailored management and leadership training courses to support and develop employees with supervisory and managerial roles and responsibilities.
