AEGIS Loss Control is pleased to publish various resources throughout the year, including Quick Tips and white papers. Geared toward Members who serve in operations and risk management roles, these resources highlight the importance of inspection, maintenance, infrastructure and employee and public safety.
Here's a look back at the topics we featured in 2025.
AEGIS Quick Tips
What Is Your EOH?
Understanding how equivalent operating hours (EOH) are used to determine maintenance intervals for equipment in line with evolving operational challenges is essential for those involved in the maintenance and operation of steam turbines to optimize equipment lifespan and performance.
In our latest Quick Tips, What Is Your EOH?, we explain the impact of evolving operating methods that deviate from the original equipment design, and the importance of incorporating applicable essential variables into steam turbine EOH calculations to refine maintenance intervals.

Utility Wood Pole Inspection and Maintenance
The consequences of an electrical wood pole failure are significant. In addition to negatively impacting system reliability, pole failures can result in fatalities, serious injuries, property losses and utility-initiated wildfires. Aging electric utility infrastructure has made wood pole maintenance and inspection strategies a priority.
In our Utility Wood Pole Maintenance White Paper, AEGIS Loss Control draws on examples of significant claims that have resulted from pole failures to provide an overview of the elements of an effective pole inspection program, including the need for close coordination among various parties in joint pole agreements.

Keeping Sprinkler Heads Indemnified
If your sprinkler heads are over 20 years old, it's time to inspect, test or replace them. All sprinkler heads have a defined lifespan that corresponds to an indemnification period — the window during which a manufacturer or supplier agrees to cover certain liabilities or risks incurred from the product, such as defective materials or safety recalls. In our latest Quick Tip, we outline the current NFPA guidance on approved lifespan and testing frequency of sprinkler heads to ensure they remain within the indemnification period.

Updated Water Utility Resources
Reliable access to clean, potable water and water for community fire protection is often taken for granted. Ensuring we have access to water when and where we need it requires vigilance — rigorous inspection and maintenance protocols for treatment facilities and distribution systems are paramount.
AEGIS has recently updated three of its water utility white paper resources:
• Water Valve Inspection Maintenance Program
• Non-Revenue Water Audit Checklist
• Water Security Checklist
